ETPS will be displaying the University of Bath’s Zero Emissions TT Motorcycle
ETPS will be displaying an all-electric bike on their stand from the University of Bath’s Zero Emissions Motorcycle (B0EM) team. Their season highlight is the Isle of Man TT Zero. A special 5kW LAB-SMS charger with single phase input was provided, due to the track’s limited infrastructure.
Commercial single phase input chargers are only usually available up to 3kW. The quicker charge capability allowed B0EM to maximise the number of bike tests before the race.
B0EM have many ambitious goals for the upcoming season. Besides trebling the bike’s battery capacity, they want to achieve an average lap time of 100mph and a top speed of 150mph.
Engineering such a well tuned electrical machine is a key extra curricular activity for all those involved. It gives the students real world experience within their chosen career pathways, often expected by modern employers.
